Associate Director – MEP & Sustainability
London City
£85,000 - £100,000
Help shape a consultancy, with a clear opportunity to progress to Director.
The role has been created to support the next stage of the business. You'll work closely with the Directors, helping decide which clients, markets and services to focus on. There's a clear succession pathway, giving you the opportunity to develop your career alongside the consultancy's growth.
Build client relationships that go beyond the next project. You'll understand their buildings, businesses and challenges, becoming someone they turn to for advice. You'll have the opportunity to get involved early, helping clients work out what they need before a brief becomes a tender.
Use your technical knowledge to help win the right work. You'll bring together specialists across MEP, sustainability, energy and building performance to develop solutions around the client's needs. It's an opportunity to use your engineering understanding in a broader commercial role.
Have a say in where the business goes next. You'll identify opportunities across decarbonisation, heat networks, energy and building performance. If you see demand for a new service or partnership, you'll work directly with the Directors to explore it and help turn it into something the business can offer.
Help others develop their client relationships and commercial confidence. You'll support technical colleagues in recognising opportunities, contributing to proposals and sharing their expertise with clients. You'll also mentor people who want to become future client relationship and business development leaders.
What you’ll do
You'll develop existing client relationships and build new ones, creating a pipeline of opportunities across target sectors and markets.
You'll lead and support proposals, bids, pitches and senior client meetings, working with technical teams to develop credible solutions. You'll also contribute to fee, scope and appointment negotiations.
Alongside the Directors, you'll help develop the business strategy, identify new services and improve how the consultancy wins work.
What you’ll need

Significant experience in UK MEP, building services, sustainability, energy or wider built environment consultancy.

A strong track record in client relationship management, business development or winning work.

Technical understanding and the ability to explain complex ideas clearly.

Strong commercial awareness and confidence engaging with senior clients.

A collaborative approach to working with technical teams.
Chartership or an equivalent qualification would be beneficial, alongside experience across MEP and sustainability.
